Taking Action to Reduce Opportunity Gaps: Putting Research into Practice

WERA’s annual December conference seeks to engage educators, researchers and evaluators in dialogue about how to improve opportunities and outcomes for Washington’s students. We invite you to submit conference sessions here that address the conference theme through sharing evidence-based and promising practices in early learning, K-12 and postsecondary settings. 

Join us to hear from keynote speaker Drs. Beverly Daniel Tatum and Juli Coleman.  Tatum is the author of the bestselling book, Why Are All the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria? And Other Conversations about Race and president emerita of Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia.  Coleman serves as Deputy Chief of Improvement of the CORE Districts.  CORE in a non-profit collaborative that supports districts and schools in California to improve outcomes with the goal of eliminating equity and achievement gaps.  She has also worked throughout Washington supporting Educational Services Districts develop their capability in improvement science.
